Alex Kaltio has been appointed to head up The Fox at Willian, as General Manager.  

Alex has been working at The Fox and other pubs in the group for over 3 years, having previously completed 3 years honing his waiting skills and customer service ethic with the Oakman Inns group. He was also Head Bar Tender for Tom's Kitchens (as in Tom Aiken) in London and won awards for his cocktails at Monsieur Le Duck. Alex is very much looking forward to bringing his previous learning and wider ACI experience to his role at the helm of The Fox. 

Alex's ambitions for The Fox are very clear - "I am blessed with a team of genuinely warm people; it's like a great gang of friends working together. We will focus on bringing this warmth to the service, starting with a very warm welcome. That is what The Fox is all about. I have known and loved The Fox for a long time, way before I joined the company, and will focus on continuing its great reputation for food, from breakfast all the way through to dinner. We have previously featured in the Top50 Gastropubs in the UK, and I am looking to build on this for the next chapter of the pub.”   

Alex’s foodie inspiration comes a lot from his half Greek Cypriot, half Finnish heritage. “I can recall once on an island called Gavdos, an elderly restaurant owner taking me by the hand to the kitchen (as my Greek wasn't so good) to understand the menu. She showed me the local produce and all the pots and pans bubbling away – I couldn't have felt more at home. That is what hospitality is about, making people feel at home, and a little biased I know, the Greeks are incredibly good at that.” 

When quizzed on his favourite drinks... “a crisp Riesling and a couple of the bar tenders' favourite - negronis - and I'm in heaven, so long as the service was warm. It's all about the service.”
