The Fox at Willian

Special Places to Eat and Drink - Sawday's 2016

Cliff and James's village pub has a fresh modern feel and a menu that showcases British ingredients, including seafood from the Norfolk coast and local farm meats. It could beat many neighbourhood restaurants into a cocked hat but part of its charm is that it's a place where beer drinkers are most definitely welcome – try a pint of Brancaster ale from the Nye family brewery. A cool, formal dining room sits astride a relaxed bar where Brancaster oysters in sesame tempura add glamour to a menu that includes beef and pork burgers with sweet onion and chilli relish. The restaurant is a mix of French bistro and British pub: braised beef cheeks with creamy garlic mash and red wine sauce, a couple of roasts on Sundays, chocolate orange fondant. This Fox is one you'd do well to hunt down.
